When you read this chapter, you will find 5 kings who gathered together to make war against Gibeon. But the men of Gibeon sent for Joshua to help. Before Joshua left Gilgal to go to Gibeon, God spoke to him about the victory.
Verse 8: “And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.”
Joshua quickly went to Gibeon. Make sure you go back and read the next verses in between (9-23). You will see Joshua’s unwavering faith and the Lord fighting the battle including sending stones from Heaven and causing the sun to stand still.
Verse 24: “And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him. Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them.
Verse 25: “And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the LORD do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.”
What a promise we have from God. Stand on the promise that you have the victory. So fear not, be strong and of good courage. God will fight your battles.
Last note, don’t miss that it was the men of Gibeon who called for Joshua. So, even if you’re still not confident, call on someone who can help you.
